On the 1st April 2010 Rhiannon Lawrence won the Devon Young Coach of the Year for 2009. The awards ceremony was held at Paignton Zoo. She was up against 2 other very successful young coaches:  and . Rhiannon is very pleased that her commitment to sport and the success of Salle Lawrence Fencing Clubs in both Plymouth and Tavistock have been recognised.

       She said “ I am very surprised but also extremely grateful to receive this award. Thank you to Active Devon for the opportunity to show their appreciation for myself and other coaches in the county who also won awards at the event. Although I have worked extremely hard to bring fencing throughout the city in Plymouth + Tavistock without the participation of the fencers themselves Salle Lawrence would not be the success it is now!”

Rhiannon and Salle Lawrence Fencing Club will continue to work with Active Devon, Plymouth City Council and the Sir John Hunt School Sports Partnership throughout 2010.
