The 27th June saw three of our Junior fencers and 3 of our senior fencers enter the Dunstan Foil + Epee competition.
Our Junior fencers kick started the morning where Ola Pac an under 13 girl foilist, Oliver Matchett an under 11 boy foilist and Yannick Mason an under 9 boy foilist all started their poole rounds. After a nervous start from all three they got into the swing of it and overcame their nervous of fencing outside of Salle Lawrence Fencing Club. All 3 of our Junior fencers finished 3rd in their respective age-groups which is an amazing achievement for all of them. Ola because she had to compete against the boys in her poole rounds, Oliver because he was in the biggest entry category and Yannick because he is only six years old and had to fence against the much bigger 9 year olds.
Our Seniors then boosted by the success of our juniors and having had a fairly quiet couple of competitive months fought poole unique's. Toni Denham aged 16 and Kristian Lawrence aged 15 both fought in a mixed men's and women's epee poole of 31 fencers and Tim Cross fought in a mixed men's and women's foil poole of 13 fencers. All 3 had a long afternoon of poole rounds and Tim had to then compete in a Direct Elimination eventually finishing 3rd. Kristian finished a very respectful 9th and Toni 17th in the Open Epee.
